Mt. Kailash is known as not just a mountain but a sacred place Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Bon. Tibetan Buddhist called Mt. Kailash Kangri Rinpoche; ‘Precious Snow Mountain’. According to Hindu, it is a home of Lord Shiva. Where for Buddhists, it is the navel of the universe. Kailash is also known as Meru Parvat or Sumeru among Jain, where their first leader Tirthankara, Rishabhadeva, attained Nirvana. And for the Bon, a religion which predates Buddhism in Tibet, maintain that the entire mystical region and the nine-story Swastika Mountain are the seat of all spiritual power.

Hindus believe Kailash as the abode of the most powerful Lord Shiva who is in charge of Destroy, The Hindus believe that one should at least finish one pilgrimage walking around the Kailash during his lifetime. The route of pilgrimage walking is a circle over 52 km.
